The Life and Times of Jeff Summers

The Life and Times of Jeff Summers
Welcome to My Site PDF Print E-mail

Each of us carry cerebral multimedia content throughout out lives. Some Jeff at the Game with Tiffany internalize this data while others embrace the flow of memories and express them in artistic and creative ways. As a child of Generation D, I have embraced the digital domain and use technology to express the disjointed and sometimes bizarre nature of mortality. The web is my creative outlet where I can express my thoughts and images to other cognizant beings. Through this expression I have come to the self-realization that my life cannot be summarized in a linear fashion. My life can best be described as celestial points of light that may be connected in creative ways to form constellations of consciousness. While some may see patterns others will merely see darkness. By sharing these lights and experiences, others may learn of me that my spirit may live on.

Each person that you meet and each time you communicate with someone you give them an opportunity to form an opinion about you.  Some will use this opportunity to try and categorize you and neatly place you in a box comparing you with others who have similar views.  Unfortunately that doesn't work well with me.  I tend to be a nonconformist in my thoughts and actions making it difficult or impossible to categorize.  I am the perverbial square peg seeking round holes to prove that I don't fit.  This is not intentonal it just seems to work out that way.

Those closest to me always say I am hard to understand or get to know.  This web site is my attempt to facilitate those who would like to understand who I am and why I am.  The journey will not be easy nor will it be linear.  Many will travel along the path but few will finish it.  Those that do will hopefully find answers to their questions and perhaps give them insight into themselves that they had not anticipated.  I invite you to walk with me as we journey through our mortal existence and perhaps we will find common ground and become friends.

2009 AYSO Tournament Soccer PDF Print E-mail

At the conclusion of the fall soccer season Dakota decided that he wanted to try out for the AYSO tournament team that plays in the spring.  The competition was extremely fierce but ultimately he came away making this all-star team.  The boys are very talented and the coaches are extremely good.  The tournaments go from the end of December through May meaning we will be spending most every free moment we have at the soccer fields either for practice or games.  With so many of our firends and family not in the Phoenix/Chandler area we decided to take pictures to help everyone feel a part of Dakota's life.  An on-line photo album has been created for Dakota's Newcastle Magpies's tournament soccer games.

My love affair with photography began when I was in high school.  I was fascinated with all types of cameras and the artistic freedom it provided.  I had been involved with art since early childhood.  My parents both encouraged me sending me to several art classes and seminars. In many cases it was intimidating since I would be the only child in a room of adult artists. No matter, I was doing something I enjoyed.  My problem was always that I would get bored with a specific medium.  I jumped from charcoal to pencil to ink to paint (both acrylic and oil). I just oculd not seem to find one area that I wanted to focus on. Looking back I think part of my problem was the constant internal struggle I had between my artistic side and my analytical side.

Diary of a Diehard Baseball Blog PDF Print E-mail

When the Arizona Diamondbacks were awarded a Major League Baseball franchise on March 9, 1995 I took that as an omen that I was destined to follow this team.  After all, what other explanation could there possibly be for the team to be unveiled on my birthday?  Two days later in the driving rain I stood downtown at then America West Arena and waited to put $50 down for a season ticket that would not be available for 3 years.  They had not even broken ground on a stadium yet and I already had a deposit on season tickets.

Site Evolution PDF Print E-mail

This web site has gone through several metamorphoses.  It began quite simply with just a static page but soon additional pages and content were added turning it into a web site rather than a web page.  As the number of pages increased so did the time it took to maintain this site.  When I first created this I intended it to be just an electronic business card providing information of how people could contact me.  Now it was turning into more of a life history; that was something I had not expected nor planned. It became very clear that I needed to find an easier way to maintain this site if it were to survive.  A few years passed and I happened to stumble across a content management system that touted its ease of use.  I have been in the software business long enough to take these claims with a large grain of salt.  Given the situation I found myself in I decided to take a chance and install this software.
